Tom commenced his playing days for the Bacchus Marsh Football Club in the Ballarat Football League. He played his junior football at the Club from 1993 - 1999 and continued on as a senior player from 2000 - 2004. Tom had a stint at the Western Jets from 1998 - 2000 in the TAC Cup Competition. In 2005 Tom moved from the Ballarat Football League to the Bellarine Football League playing for Torquay for two seasons in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 Tom played in a senior premiership for the Torquay Football Club. In 2007 he moved to East Geelong and played in the Geelong & District Football League for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. In 2009 Tom played a season with the Old Westbourne Grammarians in the VAFA before moving back to East Geelong for his final two seasons of his playing career for East Geelong in 2010 and 2011.
In Tom's final year of playing in 2011 he combined those duties with also being Assistant Coach and Chairman of Selectors at East Geelong. In 2012 Tom made the transition into Senior Coach of the Club as they finished runners up. In 2013 he moved to Newton & Chilwell Football Club in the Geelong Football League where he was the Senior Assistant Coach. From their Tom joined the Western Jets in 2014 as the Opposition Analyst and Forward Scout before in 2015 bcoming an Assistant Coach looking after the Western Jets Backline. In 2016, 2018 and 2019 Tom was the Midfield Coach, and in 2017 Tom looked after the Forwards.
Since 2017 Tom combined his role as an Assistant Coach at the Western Jets with being the U/16 Vic Metro Assistant Coach.
