CALDER Cannons would like to congratulate TAC Cup assistant coach Damien Keeping on joining Carlton as the club's inaugural AFL Women's coach.
Damien served as our defensive coach for the TAC Cup side this year and has also worked with the VWFL Women's Academy, Western Bulldogs' women's team and was an assistant coach with the Vic Metro side at this year's AFL Under-18 National Youth Girls Championships.
Calder talent manager Ian Kyte wished Damien well in his new role.
"Damien's coaching credentials when it comes to women's and girls football speak for themselves," Kyte said.
"We thank him for his contribution at Calder Cannons and wish him success in his new role with Carlton."
Keeping said he was excited to be joining the Blues for the historic first year of the AFL Women's League.
“It is a real privilege. To be part of building a team from the ground up at a proud and historic club like Carlton is an honour,” Keeping said.
Keeping's Carlton team will compete against Collingwood, Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, Fremantle, Brisbane Lions, Adelaide and GWS Giants in the first year of the new competition.
Mathew Oakley has stepped up to fill Keeping's role with the TAC Cup side.
